Complete first-agent onboarding

Understand each onboarding step, what can be skipped, and what success looks like before you publish an agent.

Onboarding creates one agent and makes its homepage searchable first. Fetchply maps the rest of the site without reading those pages, so you stay in control of what the agent learns.

Website URL

Enter a site you own or are authorized to use. Fetchply blocks some well-known third-party sites. Choose I don't have a website to continue with files.

Optional file uploads accept PDF, DOCX, PPTX, CSV, XLS/XLSX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, JSON, PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF files up to 10 MB each. Standalone images are read with the configured vision model. If you skip the website, page review does not appear.

Prepare your agent

Fetchply applies safe colors and the site icon, indexes the homepage, maps the site's page addresses, and creates five starter questions from homepage content. The live status shows which task is running, and tasks that are still going read Working… or Waiting….

At the top of the step, a small card shows the branding Fetchply found: your site icon, your agent name and website address, and the accent color it chose. It fills in as soon as the branding task finishes. You can change any of it later in the customizer.

Next becomes available once branding, homepage indexing, and the starter questions have each finished trying. A step that fails does not block you: retry it from its row, or continue and come back to it later. Site mapping keeps running in the background and never holds up this step.

Choose a plan

Each plan card shows its monthly price and everything the plan includes — message allowance, number of agents, training space, available model tiers, integrations, and plan extras — the same list you see on the pricing page. Switch between Monthly and Annual to compare; annual cards show the amount you save per year.

Continue with Free or choose a paid plan. If checkout opens, Fetchply returns you to onboarding after payment is verified. While a payment is confirming, paid plans are locked so a second checkout cannot start.

Review pages

The customizer opens first. If Fetchply is still mapping your site, a Mapping your site marker sits at the bottom of the screen and everything else stays usable, so you can start customizing your agent while it finishes. No page other than the homepage is read while the marker is showing.

When the map is ready, Choose what your agent learns opens on its own. Expand the site hierarchy, search by path, or select a whole section. The homepage is marked Indexed and stays selected because your agent already answers from it.

The panel beside the list shows how many pages you have selected, how many your plan allows, and how many were found. Quick select offers Recommended (as many as your plan allows), Everything, and Homepage only. Fetchply does not read any other page until you choose Add pages, or Finish with homepage to stop there.

A file may upload successfully before it finishes indexing. Check Training Data for Processing, Indexed, or Failed status.

Troubleshooting

Homepage indexing failed: Select Retry beside the homepage task. Confirm the site is public and reachable over HTTPS. If you entered the wrong website or mistyped the address, choose Wrong website? Try another URL to start fresh. If homepage indexing cannot succeed, starter questions are marked Needs homepage and do not prevent you from selecting Next to continue and add files or content later.
A step failed and you want to move on: You can. Next stays available once every step has finished trying. If homepage indexing is the step that failed, your agent has nothing to answer from yet, so retry it — or add pages or files later from Training Data before you share the widget.
No icon appeared in the branding card, or the color looks wrong: Some sites do not publish an icon Fetchply can read, or use colors that would be hard to read in the chat widget. In that case a globe symbol and safe default colors are used instead, and setup continues normally. You can upload your own icon and set your colors in the customizer after onboarding.
The branding card still shows a placeholder: The branding task has not finished yet. Wait for it to show Retry or a check mark; if it failed, select Retry beside Applying your website branding.
Mapping is taking a long time: Large sites take longer. Keep working — the page list opens by itself when the map is ready, and it opens on any of your agent's pages, so you do not have to sit on one screen. You can also leave and come back; the marker returns and picks up where it left off.
The page list appeared while you were editing: Your customizer changes save on their own, so nothing is lost. Choose your pages, or finish with the homepage, and you are returned to what you were doing.
Site mapping failed: Choose Try mapping again. While mapping runs again, the Mapping your site marker returns and the rest of the screen is usable. If it keeps failing, choose Finish with homepage: your agent stays online answering from the homepage, and you can add pages later from Training Data. No other page is read while mapping is unavailable.
Your selection is over the plan limit: The panel shows how many pages over you are. Use Keep the first …, deselect sections, or upgrade. The homepage counts toward the limit.
Checkout returned but the plan is still activating: Paid plans are locked while the payment is confirming, so you cannot be charged twice. Choose Check again, or Continue to your agent — the plan applies automatically as soon as confirmation arrives.
You need to leave page review: The review sets your agent's knowledge scope, so it cannot be dismissed. Finish with the homepage to continue, or delete the new agent if you do not want to keep it.
You deleted the agent and want to start over: Choose Create agent from your agent list. Setup always begins again at the first step, on the website screen. An old setup link for a deleted agent also starts a fresh setup rather than showing an error.
Starter questions did not appear: Select Retry beside the starter-question task. If you had already written your own questions, Fetchply keeps yours and does not replace them.
