Testing Your Agent
The Test Chat is a built-in interface where you can have real conversations with your agent. Use it to verify answers, refine the system prompt, and debug response quality.
How to Access
Navigate to your agent's Test Chat tab in the dashboard. The interface looks and behaves exactly like the widget your visitors will see.
What to Test
Common Questions
Ask questions your visitors are likely to ask. Verify the answers are accurate and well-formatted.
Edge Cases
Test questions that are:
- Off-topic (agent should decline gracefully)
- Ambiguous (agent should ask for clarification or give its best answer)
- Very specific (agent should cite relevant content)
Tone and Style
Check that the agent's tone matches your system prompt. Is it too formal? Too casual? Adjust the prompt accordingly.
Lead Capture Flow
If lead capture is enabled, verify the form appears at the right time and collects the correct fields.
Improving Responses
If answers aren't good enough:

| Wrong answers | Add Q&A pairs for those specific questions |
| Missing information | Upload more content or crawl additional pages |
| Bad tone | Refine the system prompt |
| Too verbose | Add "Keep responses concise" to the system prompt |
| Hallucinating | Add "Only answer based on the provided context" to the prompt |
Test Chat conversations are not counted against your monthly message quota.
Feedback
During test conversations, you can rate responses with thumbs up/down. This feedback is stored and visible in your conversation logs, helping you identify which responses need improvement.
