Connect Discord

One Discord server connects to one agent. Connecting a server that another agent already uses moves it to the new agent, and connecting your agent to a different server removes the bot from the previous one. Disconnecting removes the stored Discord connection, removes the bot from the server, and stops agent replies.

How answers work

• Members ask questions with the /ask command. The bot does not send automatic answers to regular messages, mentions, or direct messages.
• While the answer is prepared, Discord shows a "thinking" indicator on the command. Long answers are split into several messages.
• Conversations appear in your Fetchply inbox like every other channel, showing the member's Discord name and profile photo, and each answered question counts as a message in your monthly plan.
• If a team member has taken over a member's conversation from the inbox, /ask tells that member a team member will follow up instead of sending an automatic answer. Replies your team sends from the inbox reach the member as a direct message from the bot.
• When the member answers that direct message, their reply appears in the same inbox conversation, so the whole exchange stays in one thread. Files the member sends in the direct message show up in the conversation as links. The bot never sends automatic answers in direct messages; they are reserved for your team's conversation.
• Files your team attaches to an inbox reply arrive in that direct message as links. Images show a preview; other files appear as a named download link. Voice replies are not available on Discord.

Troubleshooting

• The /ask command does not appear: The command is registered when the server is connected. Disconnect and reconnect from Integrations → Discord, then type / again in the server. Discord may need a few seconds and sometimes a client restart to show new commands.
• The command answers "This server is not connected": The connection was removed or moved to another agent. Reconnect from Integrations → Discord.
• The bot was removed from the server by an admin: Fetchply cannot answer there anymore. Reconnect from Integrations → Discord to add the bot back; your agent setup is kept.
• The answer says the agent is not ready: Finish training the agent in the dashboard first, and make sure the agent is enabled.
• Members get no answer at all: Check the connection status on Integrations → Discord, and confirm the question was sent through /ask rather than as a normal message.
• A team reply shows "Not sent" in the inbox: The member's Discord privacy settings block direct messages from the bot. Ask the member to allow direct messages from server members in their privacy settings for that server, then send the reply again.
• A member's direct message reply does not appear in the inbox: Direct message replies are matched to the member's existing conversation, so the member must have asked at least one /ask question first; a direct message from someone with no prior conversation is not delivered. Also check that the server is still connected on Integrations → Discord: replies are not delivered while it is disconnected. Delivery can take a few moments; refresh the inbox if a reply seems missing.
• Connection status cannot be loaded: Check your internet connection, then select Try again. Fetchply does not mark the server as disconnected or change its setup when this check fails. Wait briefly and retry before reconnecting.
• Repeating a question: Sending the same /ask question twice sends two answers and counts two messages; the command has no memory of duplicates.

Frequently asked questions

• Do I need to create my own Discord app or bot? No. The Add to Discord button installs the managed Fetchply app; there are no credentials to copy.
• Can the bot chat without the /ask command? Automatic answers require /ask; mentions and free-form channel messages are not answered. Direct messages are different: after your team replies to a member from the inbox, anything the member sends back in that direct message reaches the same inbox conversation, though the bot never answers direct messages automatically.
• How many servers can I connect? One server per agent. Create another agent to serve another server.
• Are answers private? Automatic answers are posted in the channel where /ask was used, visible to everyone who can see that channel. Replies sent by your team from the inbox are private: they arrive as a direct message from the bot.
