Connect Instagram

Authorize a professional Instagram account, test supported interactions, and safely reconnect or disconnect it.

Use an Instagram Business or Creator account that is connected to the Meta assets required by the authorization flow.

Start authorization

Open Integrations → Instagram and choose the connect action. Sign in to Meta and approve the requested account and permissions.

Confirm the professional account

Verify that the connected profile is the account you intend the selected agent to serve.

Test each enabled interaction

Send a DM and test any supported comment or story-mention behavior you plan to use. Confirm the messages appear in Inbox → Instagram.

Monitor connection health

Fetchply refreshes eligible tokens automatically. Reconnect if Meta revokes access, the account type changes, or the page reports reauthorization.

Disconnecting stops Instagram messaging for this agent and removes the stored integration. It does not delete your Instagram account.

How reply names work

A reply sent from the Fetchply inbox appears once under the dashboard teammate's name. A separate reply sent directly from the Instagram app appears under the connected Instagram profile's name. This makes it clear where each reply was written.

Incoming DM conversations in the inbox show the sender's Instagram name (or username) and profile photo, so your team can see who is writing at a glance. If an account does not expose a name or photo, the conversation shows an initials avatar instead.

Typing indicator

When someone sends a DM and your agent is preparing a reply, Instagram shows a "typing…" indicator so the person knows an answer is coming. The indicator clears as soon as the reply is sent. This happens automatically and needs no setup. If a reply cannot be prepared (for example, the agent is turned off or outside its serving hours), no typing indicator is shown.

Voice messages

When someone sends a voice message in a DM, Fetchply writes out what they said so your agent can answer it like any other message, and attaches the original recording to that message in the inbox so you can play it back. Voice messages work best in English and Urdu. See Inbox and conversations for how they appear and what to do when a recording cannot be understood.

Automatic bot-loop protection

Fetchply does not answer a DM when the sender is another Instagram account currently connected to a Fetchply agent. The ignored message is not added as a visitor conversation. This prevents two Fetchply agents from continuously replying to each other while leaving normal customer messages unchanged.

Instagram does not always identify bots operated by other services. If a third-party automation keeps messaging your account, pause that automation or block the account in Instagram.

Troubleshooting

Connection status cannot be loaded

Check your internet connection, then select Try again. Fetchply does not mark the account as disconnected or change its setup when this check fails. Wait briefly and retry before reconnecting.

One reply appears twice with two names

First refresh the conversation to rule out a temporary display issue. A reply sent once from Fetchply should appear only once; Fetchply hides Instagram's delivery copy of that same reply. Replies that were actually sent from both Fetchply and the Instagram app remain as separate messages.

New Instagram messages are delayed

Confirm the integration still shows as connected, then send a new test DM. If Meta asks for authorization again, reconnect the professional account and repeat the test.
