About this tool
What this converter does
Notion stores pages as its own block types, and its built-in export flow takes several clicks per page. This converter takes a public Notion share link and returns the page as Markdown, translating headings, lists, toggles, and tables into portable syntax you can keep anywhere.
It is handy when moving notes into a git-backed wiki, publishing a Notion draft on a Markdown blog, or archiving pages outside your workspace. Publishing can be switched off again the moment the conversion is done.
How to use Notion to Markdown
- 1
Publish the Notion page
In Notion, open Share, switch to the Publish tab, and publish the page to the web. This creates the public link the converter can read.
- 2
Paste the share link
Copy the notion.site address and paste it into the input field, then start the conversion.
- 3
Save the Markdown and unpublish
Copy or download the result. If the page was only published for this conversion, turn publishing back off in Notion.
Good to know
- Private pages and workspace-only links cannot be read; the page must be published to the web first.
- Only the page at the link is converted; linked sub-pages are separate URLs and need their own conversion.
- Notion-specific blocks with no Markdown equivalent, like databases with views, convert in simplified form or are skipped.
FAQs
Common questions
Do I really have to make my page public?
Yes, briefly. The converter can only read what Notion serves publicly. Publish the page, convert it, then unpublish; the whole round trip takes under a minute and the page is private again afterward.
Which Notion blocks convert well?
Headings, paragraphs, bulleted and numbered lists, to-dos, quotes, code blocks, simple tables, and toggles all have close Markdown equivalents. Databases, synced blocks, and embeds do not, so expect those to simplify.
Does it convert sub-pages automatically?
No. Each Notion page lives at its own URL, so convert them one link at a time. For a bulk export of an entire workspace, Notion’s native Markdown export is the better fit.
